Dove dry spray deoderant – quick review

Target #TryDry Vox Box from Influenster

Okay, I haven’t received an Influenster Vox Box in like a year or more. I was surprised they sent me a box,  it contained a men’s and a women’s Dove dry spray deoderant.

I used the women’s one today,  sprayed right before i left for work.  I bartender at a restaurant, I always feel sweaty.  First, the nozzle want pointing in the right place,  so I sprayed deoderant behind me! What a dork! Anyway,  I’m home now and I don’t have any sweat marks on my work shirt and my arm pits feel dry – this is an improvement from the secret invisible gel that I have been using.

My boyfriend wore the men’s deoderant to the gym.  I guess his arm pits were less sweaty,  but he was still a stinky guy after his workout! Good for him,  I should be doing the same!

I don’t know how much this retails for,  I’ve never seen this product before I received it,  but if it’s around the same price as secret, then I’d recommend it.

Influenster sent me this product for free to test out. If you want to sign up,  they make you take a survey to see if you qualify for testing out boxes of different products.

There is no referral link,  but if you want to sign up for Influenster leave me your email address and I can send an invite!

Throw away mascaras

12 Jul

Laura Mercier full blown volume lash building mascara. Thumbs down. This is a sample size from Birchbox that I tried and wanted to like, but it didn’t deliver volume or curl. The formula did feel nice, no flaking and wasn’t hard to wash off.

Kiehl’s marvelous mineral mascara with jojoba oil and acacia senegal. I loved this mascara when it was fresh and new, but it didn’t last long and once it started to dry out it didn’t pull its weight any more. This is a gentle formula, medium volume, added a some length, a little smudging by the time I was getting ready for bed at the end of the day, and no irritation when I washed it off.

The third one that I’m throwing away is by Nanacoco. Scandalous waterproof mascara, which I received in a Beauty Box 5 subscription. Not much volume, no length, no curl added. It had good staying power, though it was a little tough to wash off, my eyelashes did not like this very much.

All the mascara

These are all the mascaras I had in my makeup collection.

My favorites: Revlon bold lacquer by grow luscious (I have another new one in the package, I got them in boxycharm and beauty box 5 subscription boxes), and Tarina Tarantino fleur de lash in the super glam packaging.

Wet n Wild mega length mascara is great in a pinch. I bought it one day on break at work – I forgot to put on mascara that day and my eyes looked so sleepy. I think it’s only $3!

I’ve been rotating daily between these 5: Revlon, be a bombshell, they’re real by benefit, urban decay perversion, cover girl professional, and urban decay. They’re all open, so I feel like I have to use them all before they go bad! I should toss out some of these, though, I keep getting more in subscription boxes!

Boxycharm March 2014 Box!

Boxycharm – $21/month

I re-signed up for Boxycharm this month after seeing the moisturizer as a sneak peek item. This is the best box I’ve seen from them yet!

Pur-lisse moisturizer – $55, Bella Pierre Makeup Base – $19, Bella Pierre “Earth” shimmer eye shadow – $15, Model Co Party Proof Lipstick in “Pinking of You” – $17, StrangeBeautiful Nail Polish in “Pussy Willow and BandAid” – $18.

That totals $124 value for this box!

Up until now Boxycharm has mostly been full size drugstore brand make up, nails and hair products only. This is the first box that is such a high value!

I highly recommend signing up for this box now that it is increasing in quality!

Starlooks Starbox Subscription – $15/month. Ends up costing me around $17.68 with shipping every month.

(Nail polish is Revlon ColorStay in “Delicious” and matches my new lipstick perfectly!)

The March Starbox box brought me a bright red lipstick in the color “Kinky” ($12 retail), a lip liner in “Cherry Cedar” ($12 retail), a longwear eyeliner pot in “black hole” (retail $13).

This month was curated by a youtube make up artist Ashley Hackman. I’ve never heard of her, so I’ll have to check her out youtube.com/yunging19.

I really like the quality of the starlooks makeup, but I do worry that I’ll get sent random colors each month! This red, for example, is too cool toned for my complexion. The anticipation is addicting, though.
