Ipsy! $10/month

image

Urban Decay eyeshadow in Lounge.

Crown 3 tone blush. Bronzer, blush, highlighter. The bronzer and highlighter are super shimmery. The pink blush color is a lot less shimmery. Can’t wait to try it out!

image

Be a bombshell cosmetics pout potion in Secret. Pale pink color. I’m not confident this color will look good on me,  but I do like this brand a lot.

image

BioRepublic face masks in cucumber breeze and in pomegranate crush.

image

Formula X mini nail polish in like a watermelon color. No color name is listed. BTW the color I’m wearing is Isabella by Julep with Essie good to go topcoat.

This is a pretty good Ipsy bag this month! Yay!

Here’s my Ipsy referral link if anyone wants to sign up for a subscription

Ipsy Glam Bag – July 2013

17 Jul

image

Ipsy is $10/month (10.90 with tax in California)

Woo! 5 items this month plus a transparent vinyl hot pink cylinder shape makeup bag. Last month’s leopard print bag has been the perfect makeup bag to fit in my purse. This month’s bag I’m sure I will find a use for, especially since my makeup collection is quickly expanding!!

image

BH Cosmetics Sample eyeshadow trio. One color each from three new makeup palettes in the California Collection, $10 each their website. I think everyone received these same colors. The purple on the left was hard to photograph, it’s a beautiful shade!

image

POP Beauty lip crayon in Coral Crush. This color is perfect for me. It looks more pink than the cool orange I had feared. No sharpening, it’s a twist up! My friend got her Ipsy bag today, too, and she got Fuschia Flirt. That looked like a cooler toned baby pink than a fuschia imho.

Coral Crush on top, Fuschia Flirt on bottom. Without flash the colors look almost the same, you can see the difference better with the flash. Glad I got coral, it’s such a cute color! Despite the names, these are not so crazy looking as they sound.

Coola tinted moisturizer spf 20. This has been getting good reviews. Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow morning. 7ml sample is enough to use for at least a week, me thinks.

Derma e microdermabrasion scrub. Ill try this out in my morning shower. I have used a similar product by dermalogica that I really liked, it was too pricey for me to continue using it. I’m happy to try this new sample. 1oz it’s enough to find out if I really like it.

Healthy Sexy Hair soy renewal beach spray 1.7oz. Conditions and texturizes. Mixed reviews with this one. I’ll have to wait for the weekend to spray this in my hair, I’m not sure what it will do. Make it look greasy? Chunky? Piecey? We shall find out.

I’ve heard some people complain about not receiving the teaser item, Benefit’s Benetint, but I am totally happy with my items this month! I may give away the eyeshadow trio, though the purple would look kick ass if used as an eyeliner color. Wonder how the BH shadows look if applied wet? I love this subscription, it has yet to disappoint me for the value received for my $10 a month.

Did you like this month’s Ipsy bag? What was your favorite?

Ipsy myglam bag – $10/month

My June glam bag FINALLY arrived. I think it was lost for a while, but I had faith it would find its way home. My neighbor ordered her first Ipsy bag this month, we kept tracking our orders and they were suppose to arrive at the same time. Nope. Mine decided to keep me in suspense almost a week longer!! It totally killed the thrill since I thought I knew what I was getting since I could see it online when I logged in to my Ipsy.com account. Plus, they did a sneak peak of everything this month, what happened to the mystery of a monthly subscription? Haha I guess it’s my fault for stalking their Facebook and other blogs for hints, but I didn’t think they would give it all away, sheesh.

image

Yeah! Animal print bag with neon zipper! I was in too much of a hurry to take individual photos of each item, but at this point everyone else has already received their bag and posted photos off what they received, I feel like this is the tall end of this month’s Ipsy excitement.

I have to say I was hoping to get any other color than the NYX Cream Blush in Bronze Goddess. Apply this color lightly out it will look like a dirty tan. I like the cream texture, though, it does blend easily without having to mash your face with pressure, know what I mean? I thought about wearing this over the weekend, but it’s redundant to wear bronzer if you’re in the sun anyway, getting darker without product that will probably wash off in the pool. Ilk be wearing sunblock. I just don’t think I will ever use this NYX Bronze Goddess Cream Blush. Oh well, can’t win them all!

The Starlooks lip pencil in Bare I traded with my neighbor; she got the color Tipsy which is a pinkish coral color. Bare was too dark for me. It looked blue-ish lavendar on my lips, nit “bare”. I would’ve never used it, glad I traded!

Loving the Ivory Lace Chella highlighter pencil!!! This is awesome to use as a brow highlight, I have been wanting something like this. This bad boy is going to be used up for sure!

I saw the pictures in my “glam room” on Ipsy’s website and I thought I was getting the Cailyn Gel Fix Liner with built in brush in purple (!!!) But I got the color Iron. It’s like a pewter grey with a metallic glint. Oh, how smart! Built in brush attached to the handle off the container! Ooo, like that. I’ve seen this in other reviews for other subscription boxes and it gave me box envy. I am thinking this gel liner is coming in my bag with me this weekend. I will need a sturdy eyeliner for Saturday night! Hmm, the black Xtreme Lashes liner I got in Glossybox has really great staying quality, too. It will be a tough decision. Or do I pull out my liquid Urban Decay color liners?? Must decide!

The J Cat Sparkling Cream Glitter Palette in Volta is an interesting idea, but this had to be targeted at a clubbing type, I bet most people will never use this other than to swatch the colors. It’s basically 5 different colors of glitter but with the glue built in! Maybe I can put it on all the girls this weekend. There will be 8 co-workers with me in Palm Desert this weekend at the Marriott resort for a girls only trip. Poolside all day tomorrow, dinner and dancing at night. That’s what glitter was made for, right?

Because I referred friends to subscribe to Ipsy I got an additional item in my bag this month. Last month the extra item was an Urban Decay eyeshadow, this month it was an o ring bracelet from Bubble Bar with a unique 20% off coupon code (sorry, I will be using this one). It’s cute, it feels way nicer in person than it looks in photos.

Okay, even though I was bummed about the blush color, who am I kidding thinking that I needed another blush anyway. This month’s Ipsy bag was a score! the Cailyn Gel Liner and the Chella highlighter pencil are sooo worth more than the $10 paid for my subscription. I am loving Ipsy more and more, this is only my 3rd month so I hope they keep it up!

If you haven’t tried Ipsy, I highly recommend you get a subscription here.

I think these were all Full Size items!

NuMe Finishing Serum – I was hoping to get the macadamia oil hair product so I could give it to my sister, she uses it on my little niece’s curly hair. I saw good reviews for this NuMe product on ipsy, not sure when I will try it out. Use code Ipsy60 for 60% off the website.

Zoya Nail Polish in Jacqueline – I am skeptical about this color. Its an opaque off-white color. Maybe I’ll experiment and add eyeshadow power to change the color. Use code ipsyz for buy 2 get one free, plus free remover & shipping.

Mirabella Lip Sheer in Posy Loving this immediately. It softens lips with its mango butter base, and adds a sheer rosy/plumy color, I can wear this to work everyday. Code IPSY50 for 50% off lip sheers, code IPSY30 for 30% off everything else.

Pacifica roll on perfume in Tahitian Gardenia – It’s a rare occasion that I wear perfume. This is a blend of Gardenia, Jasmine, orange flowers, and notes of tea leaves. Smells nice, made with essential oils, no synthetic ingredients. Code BEAUTY20 for 20% off.

Yaby Concealer Refill Pan in Honey I don’t own a concealer, I’m looking forward to trying this out. It feels creamy, not sure about the color, it looks close enough, though. 20% off code ipsyluvsyabycc20

Two Cosmetics Blush and Lip Gloss

7 May

image

I used code IPSTER to get 25% off plus a FREE lip gloss and FREE shipping at TwoCosmetics.com. In my April Ipsy bag I got the pink “heartache” duo eyeshadow in a matte & shimmer, and I kept checking out their website because I liked the texture of the powder eyeshadow. I almost bought The Mini Daily Palette, but I opted just for “runway” blush, though I almost also bought the “princess” pink color out of curiosity.

image

I paid $5.50 (including CA tax) total!

Blush in Runway, free lip gloss in Tropical

image

I don’t know how visible the text is, but they donate a makeup item for each one purchased. They are like the Tom’s for makeup! It’s better than drugstore quality for very reasonable pricing, I almost feel like I cheated with the discount code!

I would definitely recommend this blush. It is a soft, matte formula, not a crazy shade, very wearable.

I own too many lip glosses! This will be used on top of a lipstick, I wouldn’t wear it alone. It is too sheer for me, I like a little more color on my lips. Ill give it another try on its own tomorrow!

My First Ipsy Subscription Box – April 2013

16 Apr

Image April Ipsy Subscription Box!

For $10 I received a full size Be a Bombshell Blush – Beach Please ($16.50), Two Cosmetics Eyeshadow Duo – Heartache ($6.99), Sation Nail Polish – Miss Professional ($5), and a deluxe size Sexy Hair Powder Play Volume Powder ($?) in a cute white/pink cosmetic bag. Image

I HAD to sample the hot pink blush right away, I put it on both my friend and myself (she was with me when I checked my mail). It is shockingly pigmented! A little goes a long way. And it’s matte!! So excited for matte blush! I was bummed thebalm.com was sold out of their matte blush last week when they had their 50% off sale. Ipsy to the rescue!! The eyeshadow is suppose to be the same color, one with shimmer and one is matte. The matte is awesome, natural color can be an everyday color, and the shimmer is not too silvery or chalky like a cheap quality. Did I mention no parabens in Two Cosmetics eyeshadows? I give it bonus points for that alone!

Image

The Sation nail polish is an Ipsy exclusive shade. Very sheer, brush makes it easy to apply without smearing it everywhere. I put two coats on in the picture above, but I ended up adding another coat and Essie good-to-go top coat. Again, bonus points for not having unnecessary chemicals, like formaldehyde, in the polish blend, but took a little longer to dry. This is a classy sheer pink color, one coat made my nails look healthy with a barely-there amount of color.

I haven’t tried out the volume powder yet, it will get used, though!

Pretty in Pink was this month’s theme and for about $30 worth of product for only $10, I would say my first month of Ipsy is a huge win. I would never have picked out that hot pink blush, or the pink eyeshadows, and I am due for a nudey-pink nail color. Channeling the late Mr. Ebert, I give this 3.75 stars – minus .25 stars for the methylparaben and propylparaben in the blush 😦 Luckily the color is so strong it must be applied lightly anyway!

On another note, I signed up for Conscious Box yesterday because I saw a code EARTHMONTH for 50% off. Today their Facebook page posted code 5DOLLARGIFT towards any purchase. They support small eco-friendly businesses and it’s a $19.99/month box.I signed up for a year for $109 with the 50% off code!! Definitely getting carried away with this whole subscription box idea. If you click my link below to subscribe, they’ll give me a few bucks for helping to spread the word!
